Texas A&M University Standardizes on Camtasia Studio for Creation of Online Course Content

Live Recording of Classroom Presentations and Lectures, Simplified Editing, Support for All Major Publishing Formats Lead to University's Decision

Okemos, Michigan - January 24, 2005 - TechSmith Corp., the world's leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions, today announced that Texas A&M University has selected Camtasia Studio as its screen recording software for the creation of in-class and online course content. With Camtasia Studio, faculty and researchers are able to capture, create and share live lectures, distance-learning videos, in-class presentations, and multimedia tutorials.

"Our university prides itself on the innovative use of technology to enhance and expand the educational experience for our students," said Mike Speed, professor of statistics and the Associate Dean for Technology Mediated Instruction at Texas A&M. "Camtasia Studio is a key software application for us. Hundreds of professors are using it to improve the effectiveness of their instruction, and we’re excited to roll it out to the entire campus over the next year."

Camtasia Studio supports the university’s online and distance-learning initiatives by enabling educators to record live presentations and lectures from their desktop, laptop or Tablet computers. All visual content and audio are synchronized and indexed for easy reference. And the newest version of Camtasia Studio includes an add-in for recording, editing, and sharing Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.

"We are pleased that Texas A&M has selected Camtasia Studio as part of its ongoing effort to put outstanding teaching tools in the classroom," said Troy Stein, Camtasia Studio Product Manager at TechSmith. "Increasingly, educators at all levels are discovering the benefits of recording and posting their live lectures and class content online. It maximizes the reach of each teacher’s work, and students are benefiting greatly. We look forward to supporting the university’s faculty as the deployment of Camtasia Studio broadens."

Camtasia Studio supports many common publishing formats including Flash and streaming video, enabling educators to select the best format for their classes and media requirements. The recorded presentation can be viewed on the Internet, on DVD and CD-ROM, or as part of the university’s Learning Management System.
