FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chad Wandler TechSmith's New Camtasia Studio™ Components Provide 'Drag-and-Drop' Integration with Macromedia Flash™ MXOkemos, Michigan - January 27, 2003 - TechSmith Corp., the leading provider of screen capture technology for more than a decade, announced the availability of Camtasia Studio Components for Macromedia Flash MX. Camtasia Studio Components provide Macromedia Flash developers with an easy way to incorporate and control Camtasia Studio SWF files in Macromedia Flash MX. This enhancement to Camtasia Studio illustrates TechSmith's continued support of Macromedia Flash developers and of Macromedia Flash MX, Macromedia's premier multimedia authoring tool for the Web. The new Camtasia Studio offering consists of three components: Movie Loader, Movie Controller and Movie Duration. Drag-and-drop the Movie Loader to the Flash MX stage, and the Movie Loader acts as a placeholder for your Camtasia Studio-created SWF. Simply type the URL to the SWF file without writing any ActionScript. Movie Controller adds the ability to "scrub" back and forth in the Camtasia Studio-created SWF file. It also has optional Play, Pause and Stop buttons and a customizable About box to display movie or authoring information. The third component, Movie Duration, shows the duration and the elapsed time of the SWF file. "Camtasia Studio's ability to produce Macromedia Flash movies of onscreen activity is already extremely popular with Macromedia Flash developers," said Carol Linburn, senior product marketing manager, Macromedia. This popularity was affirmed by the fact that during its first two months of availability, Camtasia Studio's trial version was downloaded 300,000 times. Ms. Linburn continued, "These components give them even more functionality for developing powerful training and e-learning applications. TechSmith has a strong reputation for reliable, quality products that work well with Macromedia Flash MX, so we're pleased that they continue to offer new Camtasia Studio capabilities to Macromedia Flash MX users." Daniel Brenner, instructional designer for the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, California said, "TechSmith's new components are a timely additional tool to create an interface in Macromedia Flash for movies produced by Camtasia Studio." He went on to explain, "We were thrilled with the release of Camtasia Studio and have been enthusiastically using it to create demo tutorials for our computer arts and technical classes. The new components for Macromedia Flash allow the developer to quickly add a customizable interface to the Camtasia Studio movie. The Movie Controller provides a slider bar control that is crucial for the user to easily review specific sections of a movie and thus be able to take full advantage of the movie content." Camtasia Studio Components are immediately available for download at no cost via the TechSmith or Macromedia Web site. About Camtasia Studio Because Camtasia Studio is easy to learn and use, Macromedia Flash developers and consultants are able to accelerate their time-to-market with software demonstrations and tours and supplement their capabilities portfolio.
