SnagIt Deployed at 2,000 Federal, State and Local Government Organizations to Boost Productivity, Enhance Constituent Service

U.S. Justice Department, Census Bureau, FBI, Federal Reserve Board, Patent & Trademark Office and Postal Service Among SnagIt Customers

EAST LANSING, Michigan - March 19, 2002 - TechSmith Corp., the leading provider of screen capture technology for more than a decade, announced that approximately 2,000 federal, state and local government customers are now using SnagIt, the industry's most popular screen capture software with more than 3.5 million users worldwide. The announcement was made at FOSE 2002, the largest technology event for the government market, being held at the Washington, DC Convention Center today through March 21st.

SnagIt is the most feature-rich software of its kind and has become one of the government's most cost-effective means of increasing employee productivity and improving customer service. SnagIt's point-and-click simplicity, legendary ease of use, and high-fidelity picture quality make it ideal for capturing images that can be used for customer support, documentation, employee training and Web development.

"The work of government is an inherently good fit for SnagIt," said William Hamilton, TechSmith's chief executive officer. "The work tends to be documentation-intensive and often requires employees to interface with constituents that have a wide range of language and technical skills. SnagIt is a universal communication tool that requires very little training and enables government users to communicate complex and often confusing information with images rather than words that could be misunderstood."

Government departments in nearly every state are using SnagIt, as are dozens of federal agencies. Among them are the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice, Labor, Transportation and Treasury. Other users include the Army and Navy, FBI, and Environmental Protection Agency.

An increasingly common use for SnagIt among government agencies is law enforcement. Police departments across the country, as well as federal agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission, are using SnagIt to collect digital evidence as they investigate illegal Web sites and Internet predators.

"I've been using SnagIt for years," said Chris Malinowski, Commanding Officer (Ret.), NYPD. "As a retired police officer, I now train law enforcement personnel on strategies and techniques for evidence collection. During my lectures, teaching and conversations with former colleagues, I have spoken with countless professionals who have given me nothing but positive feedback about SnagIt. I'm sure this wasn't TechSmith's intention when they developed the software, but thanks to their world-class technology, they have given law enforcement a very useful and important tool."

System Requirements and Availability
SnagIt 6.0 has earned the "Designed for Windows XP" logo, and it supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows ME.
