Camtasia Leads Video Screen Capture with Addition of Windows Media v7

East Lansing, Michigan, November 06, 2000 - TechSmith announces the release of Camtasia 2.1, which now supports Microsoft's new Windows Media v7 file format for exceptional streaming of screen recordings. Windows Media v7 support allows users to produce Windows Media Video (.WMV) files, which is the technology of choice for streaming movies from the computer screen. This advance establishes Camtasia's role as the principal application for capturing screen activity and producing high quality digital media across all bandwidths.

Camtasia is an easy-to-use solution that offers the best video screen capture and production technology, as it includes all the tools required to record, edit and produce desktop videos using industry standard formats. Camtasia Recorder captures on-screen activity and applies real-time effects. Camtasia Producer is a video editor designed to help users create quality productions. Camtasia also includes DubIt, an audio dubbing program that allows users to add voice narration to videos.

TechSmith designed Camtasia for use in computer-based training, product demonstrations, presentations, online help, technical support solutions, sales demonstrations and Web site content. Customers required a better solution for streaming movies, and TechSmith fulfilled their needs with addition of the Windows Media Video file format as an output option in Camtasia 2.1.

"The addition of the Windows Media v7 output will make Camtasia even more functional by offering users the very best solution available to stream screen video capture content," said William Hamilton, President of TechSmith Corporation. "We're working to give customers what they want, and this option sets our product apart from the rest."

A fully functional trial of Camtasia is available for downloading from TechSmith's Web site, www.techsmith.com.

Camtasia is designed for Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 or later versions. The manufacturer suggested retail price is $149.95, including free technical support and online upgrades to the next two major releases.
